Your Role As a Cryogenics Engineer (f/m/d), you will play a pivotal role in designing, modeling, and optimizing advanced cryogenic thermal and fluid systems for commercial-scale fusion energy solutions. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, simulate, and validate experimental designs, helping define the roadmap toward efficient and scalable clean energy. What You’ll Do Own the end-to-end simulation and analysis function for cryogenic thermal and fluid systems—from problem definition through model development, validation, and continuous improvement. Lead analytical approaches for new and undefined challenges, applying first-principles research to create pioneering solutions. Drive model validation through close collaboration with experimental engineers, comparing simulation outputs to test data, and closing performance gaps. Ensure that the Cryo team’s hardware decisions are consistently supported by robust quantitative analysis. Develop integrated thermal and fluid analysis packages for commercial-scale system development, conducting optimization and sensitivity studies as needed. Continuously refine analysis models as new experimental, materials, and system data become available. Partner closely with hardware engineers, experimentalists, and scientists to define system requirements and deliver actionable analyses for design. Provide the analytical foundation for the Cryo team’s technical roadmap, guiding what gets built, tested, and scaled. Who You Are 3–5 years’ experience (or equivalent PhD research) in integrated thermal and fluid analysis involving cryogenic systems (experience with hydrogen is preferred). MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong foundation in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
