T8 - Software Development Engineer in Test The Hartford Employee Benefits is seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer in Test to drive quality transformation through test automation, shift-left engineering practices, and continuous testing. This role will partner closely with software engineers, product teams, and DevOps teams to build scalable automated testing solutions, improve software reliability, and ensure high-quality customer experiences across modern cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, quality engineering, and leveraging modern testing frameworks to accelerate software delivery. Key Responsibilities • Test Automation Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing. • Software Development in Test: Develop production-quality code, automation solutions, custom tools, and quality engineering accelerators using Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar programming languages. • End-to-End Quality Validation: Build and execute comprehensive regression and E2E test suites using modern automation tools such as Playwright and API testing frameworks. • Shift-Left Quality Advocacy: Partner with development teams early in the software lifecycle to establish quality requirements, improve testability, and prevent defects before deployment. • CI/CD Integration: Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, faster feedback loops, and quality gates throughout the software delivery process. • Performance Testing: Design and execute performance, load, stress, and scalability testing to identify bottlenecks and ensure application reliability under production workloads. • Test Tool Development: Develop custom automation utilities, frameworks, and testing solutions using programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java . • Cloud & Platform Validation: Support testing of applications running on Kubernetes and cloud platforms while validating resiliency, scalability, and deployment…
