Job description
Type: Full-time Location: Brighton — On-site Compensation: £48,000–£58,000/year, in accordance with experience The Role Netholabs is building AI grounded in biological intelligence. We record petascale, high-resolution neurobehavioural data from living systems and use it to train neural foundation models — a new substrate for the next generation of AI, robotics, and personalised intelligence. We aim to greatly reduce the burden of animals used in basic scientific research and pharmacological work, with eventual removal and replacement by in silico models. We're looking for a Neuroscientist to join our Brighton research team as an independent contributor driving experiments from design through analysis. You'll design and run in vivo electrophysiology and behavioural experiments, work with large-scale neural and behavioural datasets, and partner closely with our ML team to translate what we learn about real brains and bodies into better foundation models. This is a role for someone who wants their science to feed directly into what gets built next. Responsibilities In Vivo Electrophysiology & Neural Recording Design and run in vivo electrophysiology experiments in animal models Develop and refine neural recording protocols and rigs alongside the hardware team Ensure recordings meet the quality and fidelity standards our models are trained on Behavioural Neuroscience & Experimental Design Design behavioural paradigms that generate rich, well-controlled datasets Plan and oversee data collection sessions, in collaboration with technicians Iterate on experimental design based on data quality and downstream modelling needs Data Analysis & Computational Modelling Analyse large-scale neural and behavioural datasets Build and apply computational models to characterise neural and behavioural dynamics Validate findings and communicate results clearly to the broader research team Neuroscience → AI Translation Partner with the ML team to translate biological findings into model design choices Help define what neurobehavioural data and features are most valuable to capture Contribute to internal research direction connecting neuroscience and foundation model development Requirements Core (essential) BSc in neuroscience, behavioural sciences, or a related field, with hands-on experimental research experience Preferred: experience with in vivo electrophysiology and behaviou…
