Why Climate Matters More Than Ever Supply chain leaders are being asked to cut costs and carbon at the same time. Yet logistics and sustainability teams often work with different data, tools, and priorities. Meanwhile, regulations and industry standards are raising expectations for how companies measure and manage their emissions. Most climate tools stop at reporting: a dashboard or a year-end PDF, produced long after a shipment has moved. They rarely reach the people deciding how to route goods, when to ship, or how much inventory to hold. The Climate team at Flexport is building emissions intelligence directly into the platform where supply chain decisions are made. We help customers weigh cost, speed, and emissions together—and turn that understanding into action. The Opportunity Flexport already runs the shipments, holds the data, and provides the platform where customers manage their supply chains. That puts us in a strong position to connect climate insights with the operational decisions that drive emissions. You will be the primary engineer for Climate, working independently of our existing engineering teams and partnering closely with the Climate Manager, your main day-to-day business stakeholder. Think of it as a small startup within Flexport: direct access to the business, a broad scope, and substantial ownership. Together with the Climate Manager, you will identify the most valuable problems to solve, shape the product direction, and turn ideas into reliable software.
